YouTuber Trevor Jacob is an avid flight and aeronautics enthusiast. Sharing tons of air time adventures on multiple vlogs along with small bits of pranks and other types of videos. Most recently, he posted a video that would horrify many! An unexpected plane failure during his trip to the Sierra Nevada mountains.
“On November 24, 2021, I took off to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to spread my best friend Johnny Stranges ashes. I planned to document the entire trip and make a video sharing the adventure.” as told by Trevor Jacob in his vlog.
“During the flight, I experienced an engine failure over some mountains.”
“I notified the FAA and the NTSB immediately.”
“I didn’t think I would have the courage to share this footage, but I feel a lot of pilots can learn from my experience.”
“Please fly with a parachute”
While the incident may shake fear for many in the aviation industry, many were instead speculating that the crash was done on purpose. Many commenters, assumed to have flight experience, reached out and began to point out many concerning points as to why the video may be just for show.
Multiple comments flooded related videos due to the commenting section of the original video had been turned off by the channel owner, Trevor Jacob.
“I can tell this is 100% staged! He was wearing a skydiving rig with a reserve chute, pilot NEVER wear those…” said by one youtube commenter, George Holt who also posts flight vlogs and videos
“Gotta love how the camera switched so you couldn’t see if he turn the engine off, and made absolutely NO attempt to restart the engine or call mayday over the radio.” said another commenter
Lots of aviation channels had come out to play in analyzing what made this video seem like a set up. There were implications that cameras were placed in specific spots to block certain actions that would be needed before bailing a plane.
Not to mention that some of his own viewers had even pointed out that he rarely flies the particular plane in the video, the Taylorcraft.
“This dude is an embarrassment to real pilots.” exclaimed by one commenter.
Many flooded the comments section even explaining certain aspects like flight speed, engine restart attempts, and altitude could have overturned the decision for Trevor Jacobs to not bail.
In this instance, Trevor Jacob could be facing multiple violations for his stunt. Such as; failing to hail to FAA and NTSB, tampering with evidence, failure to prove airworthiness and so on.
Since December 23, 2021 the video has gained over 500,000+ views along with an outweighed amount of likes to dislikes. Of course, dislikes being more than the number of likes.
As of now, the FAA is still currently investigating into this incident.
