There are videos circulating the internet of some people sitting on exercise bikes at a McDonald’s in China. These videos have gone viral and are all over social media.
In two different videos, you can see a woman and a man riding some newly installed bikes where you pedal. In front of them is a little table where you can put your food and drinks.
The bike machines are currently at two locations in China and aren’t just for exercising, but there are also phone chargers attached so customers can multitask – eat, bike, and charge.
These exercise bikes were first rolled out in Jieyan Wanda and Guangdong Province in September 2021. The New Hualian location in Shanghai soon followed suit.
The material of the bikes are created from recycled plastic and allows customers to generate electricity while you peddle, which is used to charge their mobile phones or other electronic devices.
The leaders from the franchise say it’s part of China’s “Upcycle for Good” project, an initiative focused on creating products with plastic parts from recycled materials. The company stated that their bikes were designed to inspire and promote a low-carbon, environmentally friendly lifestyle while customers visited to enjoy their McDonald’s food items.
What are your thoughts on this? With health being a concern and topic on many people’s minds these days, will McDonald’s in America take on this new trend and install these bikes?
