In case you didn’t know, there is another Asian American in the NBA. Although he never hits the court or touches the basketball, you can rest assure he makes a difference to the team. His name is Rich Cho and he’s the first ever Asian American General Manager in the NBA.
He will enter his first season as General Manager of the Michael Jordan owned Charlotte Bobcats. Cho will work closely with Bobcats President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins in important aspects such as player acquisitions, salary cap management and compliance with league rules and the collective bargaining agreement.
Cho is a native of Burma who immigrated to the United States with his family in 1968 when he was three years old. He became the first Asian-American general manager in American major league sports when he served as General Manager of the Portland Trail Blazers in 2010-11. It is always nice to see an Asian American step into such a important role behind the scenes of an NBA team. It requires a lot of respect and a good track record in order to be hired for this position. Now lets see what he can do with those Bobcats! Go Cho!
