Victoria Mai was originally born in Gulfport, Mississippi and her parents moved to Louisiana shortly after she was born. Her mother and father are both full Vietnamese, though many people often question whether or not she is Filipina or other races. She lives a considerably “normal” life, living in one place, and attending school.
Victoria is the independent type that works for everything she has and will continue to do so. Growing up in a small town, knowing her roots, and living by her terms are a few pin points of her character. She is your average girl next door. If you really want to get to know her, you have to experience her personality or read more in this Jackfroot interview.
Jackfroot Interview With Victoria Mai
J: How did you first get introduced into the modeling industry and what do you love about it?
V: It was a really random night out for a friend’s birthday, my manager Kim Loan spotted me and pulled me aside. We talked for a bit and the rest is history!
J: If you can turn back time to relive a moment over again, what would it be?
V: Hmmm, every experience is a learning one, but I would definitely like to go back and relive travels overseas, just because it was so much fun and such an amazing experience!
J: What types of food do you love eating and what type of restaurants do you enjoy going to?
V: I LOVEEEEEEEEE Asian food in general, but being Vietnamese I love me some Pho! I’m definitely a foodie though and am easily pleased with anything delectable on my plate =)
J: Do you have any other skills or jobs besides modeling that you’d like to let your fans know about?
V: I’m a very artsy person so I love to paint and sketch on the side.
J: Who are some of your role models or people you look up to in life?
V: A couple role models are my mom and Kim Loan herself. They are both strong willed, independent, business savvy, beautiful people. Â If I could be half the person they are I’d be a pretty damn good woman.
J: Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
V: 5 years from now, if I’m not traveling or in school, most likely trying to start a family.
J: Being Asian, most parents don’t approve of modeling as a career. What did your parents first think about you as a model and how do they feel about it today?
V: My parents were a little trippy at first but they were completely supportive after they saw how much I enjoyed it.
J: If you had the chance to travel to any place in the world right now, where would you go and why?
V: I would love to go to Paris! It may sound so cliche but I think every girl loves the idea of romance and being swept away, why not in the city of love itself!!!
J: What are some tips and suggestions you have for up and coming models that want to grow?
V: One thing I can tell you is to be yourself. Â Be sincere and honest of your intentions. Â Anything worth doing takes hard work so don’t skimp unless you don’t really want it.
J: When you’re not modeling, what do you enjoy doing for fun?
V: When I’m not modeling, I enjoy driving around aimlessly, running, or listening to music.
J: Can you name us some of your favorite photographers you’ve worked with?
V: Some of my favorite photographers have been Tat Leong, JP Agustin, Randy Ly, Thanh Tran, there are just so many, all of the people I work with make me look FABULOUS ^_^
