The new K-Town reality show, dubbed as the “Asian Jersey Shore”, has recently been picked up by a television network. No word on which network it will be on, but according to Tyrese’s twitter, “Ladies and Gentleman proud to say we just closed our K-Town Deal!! Who and what is K-town?? I’m glad you asked standby..”. Obviously there’s a lot of hype and anticipation for this reality show for many reasons. One, it would be the FIRST ever ALL-ASIAN AMERICAN reality show cast on network tv. Two, it shatters all kinds of stereotypes that typically label Asian Americans. There are two ways to look at this show. It could either hurt or help the image and portrayals of Asian Americans in society, but if you think about it, do we really have the best stereotypes to begin with? We’re excited to see this reality show become a “reality”, it’s time for something new, fresh and feature Asian American faces for a change!
