International singing sensation Charice was seen at a press conference for her Manila leg of her Infinity tour. The singer sports a brand new do with short blonde hair and a tattoo that reads “Love Eternally” across her left forearm, with an infinity symbol in the middle. She reveals that she got her tattoo while staging a concert in Singapore. She added that she received consent from her mom.
“It‘s not just a tattoo. It has a meaning for me. This is for my love for the people, love for my dad, love for my family. I think everybody‘s shocked. This is such a big step for me and I love it. This is me. This is who I am. I just don‘t want to stay a person that I don‘t like…I‘ve been thinking about it for years and years. This is a dream come true for me.”
The pop singer and ‘Glee’ alum also explains the change. It was an image pick between Selena Gomez and Avril Lavigne or Rhianna. According to Charice, she is happy with the more edgy, rock transformation.
“I know some people think that this is very rebellious but it‘s not. It‘s just me evolving. It‘s me transforming into another person that is totally me.â€
Consequently, Charice faced a negative pointer questioning her sexual preference. Her immediate response:
“Are you kidding me? I’ve read tons of negative comments and I don’t care. Whatever they think maybe if I look somebody or whoever I don’t mind. I mean this is the look that I want. So, the only thing you can do is to move on,” she said.
“For me, just love me, I’m a person and if you think I’m a boy or a girl or if I look like a boy, then fine,” she added.
Charice held her concert that night, March 9, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Manila. Rapper Iyaz, who is featured in her song “Pyramid,” joined her onstage.
In an interview, when asked to describe his working experience with Charice, Iyaz says, “I feel she’s still the same old Charice. She’s still fun, still active, and still talented.â€
Her next Infinity tour kicks off at Star Hall, KITEC Hong Kong on March 19. Charice is also set to sit as judge for the up coming ‘X-Factor Philippines.’
