“It’s big, bold, beautiful, and sexy. It’s never been done before. It’s their lives on the line. Their careers on the line. 14 designers. 1 winner. The search for the next Fashion Star”
Hosting 14 unrecognized designers battling it out to win the the opportunity of a lifetime: contracts with three top American retailers, H&M, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue, worth over $6 million! The three fashion moguls act as their mentors on the show: Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, and John Varvatos. It feels a lot like the home shopping network – but way more fun and filled with way more drama! The show focuses on the designers performances and doesn’t spend the entire time airing them “working” when compared to BRAVO’s Project Runway. Our favorite retailers will fight it out for the hottest designs in a bidding war, and the winner of the week is safe from elimination. The interactive twist here is everything bought on the show, you as a viewer can buy and wear the very next day!
Bay Area resident Ronnie Escalante, is one of the designers on the show looking to be the first Fashion Star. Growing  up in the Philippines, he spent most of his days in agricultural surroundings. At a young age, Ronnie watched his cousin work as a “beader” in a local fashion house and was introduced to the world of fashion. His knack for fashion design flourished in grade school where you would find sketches of clothing designs in his school books. He joined the U.S. Navy soon after his family moved to the United States. Following his four year service, he enrolled at a fashion design school in San Francisco. Ronnie won himself a prestigious internship at Chado Ralph Rucci and Zac Posen in New York City with his senior year collection. His dream is to build a lifestyle brand complete with apparel, accessories, shoes and bags. Tailoring designs for the chic and confident female who is looking for affordability and fashion forward comfort, Ronnie escaped going home this week despite the reality that he was up for elimination. With this narrow chance to make up for his lost this week, we look forward to seeing Ronnie succeed in the following weeks to come!
