Star Actress Charlize Theron (36yrs. old)Â Â seems to have a particular pet peeve when it comes to adults who rock Hello Kitty gear. She mentioned in her discussion last Friday in NYC during The New York Times’ Â TimeTalk panel in preparations for her role in Young Adults .
By exploring her oddities of women her age, she came to find that she just couldn’t relate to her peers.
“I’m pretty amazed by Hello Kitty. I see so many women in their 30s walking around in Hello Kitty sh*t and nobody is concerned for them,” Theron said. “It’s the one iconic teenage symbol that seems okay for women in their 30s? The world seems to not have an issue with it.”
Noticing similarities between these women and her character in Young Adults, Theron “said to the costume director, ‘Get me some Hello Kitty T-shirts.’ Those were my demands.”
All things aside, Charlize believes “women are just as messed up” as men, which is what made playing her role that much more enjoyable in Young Adults
“I’m really glad I got to play this character and that it’s being appreciated. It’s such a luxury to be able to do a film you want to do,” said Theron, who is an Oscar winner and grew up on ’70s films with Gene Hackman, Robert De Niro, and Dustin Hoffman.
Unlikely this actress will be buddying up with fellow Hello Kitty Enthusiasts as Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, and Lady Gaga.
