Aziatix Exclusive Interview
1. There are a lot of new fans that are still trying to learn more about you guys. How did the group Aziatix form and how did you come up with the name?
Nicky: We all met thru Jae Chong. I had just finished my 5th mandarin album n Flowsik was in Korea doing some tracks w/Jae. Jae asked me to sing the hook and the song came out “Fire”…I met Eddie few months down the line and there was a song that all three of us got on which came out crazy….one song led to two…two led to three…which led to our “Nocturnal” album…
Eddie: I met Jae Chong and Nicky Lee through Flowsik. We actually knew each other from playing basketball. First track we did was “Another Day” and from there I knew I wanted to work with these guys. AZIATIX was a name thought up by our producer Jae Chong and we thought it was perfect because we’re all Asian American.
Flowsik: After working on JYJ’s “The Beginning†album with big brother Jae Chong, we’ve realized that our chemistry is awesome, so we are always working on music. Then we’ve realized that Aziatix as a whole is just an awesome sound with different elements of music combined in one.
2. Who are some of your top favorite artists you respect and look up to?
Nicky: Stevie Wonder, Brian Mcknight, Michael Jackson too many to name all…
Eddie: Babyface, Eric Benet, Marvin Gaye, James Brown…
Flowsik:Â So many, but for starters, Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac, Usher, Neyo, etc.
3. What do you do when you get writer’s block and can’t come up with new lyrics?
Nicky: Music should never be forced out…it should come naturally…maybe ill go watch a movie…hang out w/the guys…just gotta chill and relax
Eddie: Do something totally unrelated to making music.
Flowsik: I concur with big bro Nicky. It’s a natural process. Environment and experiences play a huge roll in the inspiration process.
4. When you’re not making music, what are some hobbies or things you like to do for fun?
Eddie: Basketball, jog.
Flowsik:Â Catching up with friends and family, and trying new dishes.
5. How has the internet influenced the way you promote yourself and connect with fans?
Nicky: Almost all of our promotion has been through the internet and word of mouth…we communicate w/ our fans through Facebook…twitter…blogs…10yrs ago that was just impossible…Now as soon as we make music we can get to the fans w/just the click of the mouse…
Flowsik: The internet is one of the best discoveries ever made, haha. We are connected worldwide with fans, and they can get a chance to know us better as artists and more on a personal level as well.
6. If you can turn back time to relive one special moment over again, what would it be?
Nicky: The 9 months that I lived in my mama’s womb….because I don’t remember any of it….haha
Eddie: High school senior year second semester! All my friends were busy partying it up and I was busy working on my debut album!
Flowsik:Â When i was 5, just being with family and performing songs in front of family and friends.
7. If each of you guys can have any superpower, what would it be?
Nicky: Be at two places at once…So I can spend more time w/my family
Eddie: Stop time. So i can sleep as much as I can and never be tired.
Flowsik: Teleportation, so I can save money on transportation, and touring would be so easy. Just like Jumper.
8. What is your favorite cartoon show growing up as a kid?
Nicky: Hands down….SUPERMAN
Eddie: Dragon Ball
Flowsik: Doug … Nickelodeon FTW!
9. What are some updates or projects we can we expect within the next year with Aziatix?
Nicky: Touring Touring and some more Touring…can’t wait to see the fans in person!
Flowsik: We are always working on new music. Stay tuned!
10. Are there any tips or suggestions you can give to some artists that want to come up and succeed in the music business?
Nicky: Keep your heads up. Keep reaching for the sky. Don’t ever give up.
Eddie: Stay humble, and take your time to develop because the good stuff doesn’t happen over night.
Flowsik:Â Talent + Faith + Action = Success.
