I love musical collaborations . They represent a determination between two parties or more to reach an identical objective. So I was on reply mode when I spotted Jennifer Chung and emcee Decipher doing a cover together of Elle Varner and J. Cole’s “Only Wanna Give It To You”. I was already a huge fan of their previous collaboration, Freestyle For Me, so I was definitely quick to jump on this. With Jennifer belting out mad vocals in Los Angeles  and Decipher holding it down in Philadelphia, this cross country collective definitely produced a hot track: [youtube id=”mCjUzQjQ1iY” width=”619″ height=”375″] You can get…

The festivities kick off tonight with the Opening Night…

Check out former American Idol Season 6 contestant Paul Kim in his new music video for his single “You Left Me For That” that follows his rags to riches story. He plays a hardware store worker under the uninspiring boss, Mr.Kim played by David So- who doesn’t care about his singing aspirations and dreams to make it big one day. The lyrics are directed towards his ex-girlfriend who left him for a freeloader played by Timothy Delaghetto. This charming video also features Grace Su as Jennifer Grant. Check it out: [youtube id=”iazRnn1BfwI” width=”619″ height=”375″] WRITTEN BY PAUL KIM AND DAVID KATER.…

Last week was an intense week for a fight to the finish on Bravo’s Emmy winning hit series: Top Chef Season 9 finale. Paul Qui of Austin’s Uchiko (Japanese restaurant) was a strong fan and judges favorite throughout the entire season who beat Chicago chef Sarah Grueneberg  and earned himself the well-deserved title of “Top Chef” and took home the coveted prize of $125,000 as the overall winner. Winning six out of the 12 elimination challenges, a car and a trip to Costa Rica, the finale win sure was the ultimate cherry on top! Paul trained under chef Tyson Cole (who won a James Beard…

Benson Henderson was a good Korean American kid from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He’s never had a sip of alcohol or a puff of a cigarette (or anything for that matter) in his life. Henderson joined the wrestling team while in college and has grown into a current Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt and a mixed martial artist to keep an eye on. In 2010, Henderson claimed his current title of “former WEC Lightweight Champion” in the thrid round when he caught Jamie Varner with a Guillotine choke at WEC 46. In late 2010 when World Extreme Cagefighting merged with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Henderson became one of the WEC fighters that…

Did you catch American Idol last night? It was a chance for this season’s top 12 American Idol female contestants to step beneath the spotlight in the two-hour telecast. Only a few seized the moment to secure their spot as top five to make it to the next round.  This season’s diva-in-training, Jessica Sanchez was by far the best of the night (in my opinion). She blew away the crowd, the judges, and America in her rendition of “Love you I do” – a song performed by former American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson for the 2006 film Dreamgirls. Judge Randy Jackson said “that…

A few missing pieces separates the two, but Ellen figures out a way to bring them back together – by drawing in the void. In life and love, some endings are bittersweet. With the new season of American Idol, the Pittsburg auditions hosted a seemingly awkward 22 year-old Heejun Han, an Asian (Korean) guy with a thick accent and even thicker framed glasses. No American Idol audition would be complete without some Asian guy making a huge fool of himself on American television right? Great. I raised an eyebrow and thought to myself “Oh no… please don’t let this be another mockery of Asian talented singers… not another William Hung!” However, I was totally vested after I heard the best commentary ever to come from someone speaking to how they felt going…

On last night’s episode of the reality singing competition American Idol, Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez was among the 14 contestants who made it to the Top 24! Jessica Sanchez… Hmmm. Name ring a bell? Some of you may recognize her actually. She got her start on America’s Got Talent Season 1 in 2006, when she performed her powerful rendition of Celine Dion’s “I Surrender” – leaving a judge momentarily at a loss for words before commenting. She was only 11 years old and finished as a semifinalist. Prior to that, she received her first standing ovation on television when she appeared on the legendary music…

You ever get tired of hearing the same thing over and over again because it gets played out after everyone and everybody is talking about the same old thing? What was once a hot topic becomes yesterday’s news? Kind of like a hot track that gets overly played on the radio. It just starts to get annoying, and you start to get sick of it. That’s what we call “hype” – something that peaks in popularity at some point and loses credibility once people start to get tired of it. “Linsanity” is not hype. Hype fails to inspire. Jeremy Lin…
