Auli’i Cravalho performed ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from her breakout movie, Disney’s ‘Moana’ at the 2017 Oscars. At the 3:20 mark, a backup dancer accidentally hits the right side of her head with his flag pole, but she recovers quickly mid-song with the poise and grace of a musician twice her age, as the talented singer/actress is only 16! Mai Lee and Bradd Young team up with director Pascal Beaubeuf for the female-empowering track, “Fitness”– her first publicly released music video. A nice and added touch to the intro was a tie-in to her hit “When Love Was,” that leads nicely into the music video and story line. This proves that Mai Lee can be just as confident in front of a camera as she is singing behind a microphone. Although Rel Princeton is still preparing to release his album, Crash Landing, he takes time to treat fans with a 15 track pre-album. Three of his previously released singles– Anti-Everything, Twisted Souls, & Crash Landing– are included on this project and are arguably some of his stronger songs to date. Overall, the pre-album shows off a diverse mix of lyrical content, depth, and instrumentation.  Hip Hop is a tough market to breakthrough, but this is one gem of a project that Rel hopes will connect with listeners. I guess we’ll have to wait just a little longer…
