Spotted this cool Nike commercial the other day on TV. It’s called “THROWDOWN” and it features a wide variety of athletes from dancers, soccer players, track runners and even weight-lifters. What makes the commercial unique is the inclusion of various Asian faces throughout the ad. The commercial showcase a couple Asian dance crews, track runner and even an Asian weightlifter.
Though it may not seem like a “big deal” to have Asian people in a commercial, it’s a huge step forward compared  to when television ads had ZERO Asian faces in their commercials. If there were Asians in commercials back then, they would be playing out negative Asian stereotypes. Thank you Nike for not playing on those negative stereotypes. Now its time to start seeing more Asians on T.V. shows and movies! Press play below to see the ad.
