French Artist Invader, known for his compositions of ceramic tiles inspired by video game characters and pop-culture has recently been spotted displaying artwork around Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui district.
Invader’s Instagram showed two of his most recent pieces, while alluring to the notion that more will follow.
The french artist hinted that he would be visiting Hong Kong earlier this weekend when he posted a picture of the Hong Kong flag in his signature medium to his Instagram with the caption “Hong Kong wave07 in progress…”
Being no stranger to Hong Kong, this will be Invader’s 7th time to bless the city with his artwork. His previous visits have sparked outrage from the government, with most of his works being removed and destroyed. During his visit in 2014, he created over 35 of his iconic mosaics, works including Bruce Lee and Hong Kong Phooey, all of which were removed and destroyed by the city. That following year, he came back to Hong Kong and held an exhibition at PMQ titled “Wipe Out” which were recreations and a mapping of all his artwork from the previous year.
