Kim Pham, a 23-year-old woman who was brutally beaten outside a nightclub in Santa Ana died Tuesday after being taken off life support, according to police. The incident involved 3 females and 2 males brutally kicking and assaulting Pham while she was down. Paramedics arrived to the scene to find the victim left unconscious. Investigators believe that several witnesses and onlookers stood by recording the event with their phones and are asking any members of the public to come forward to provide any evidence to assist in the case.
Many questions still remain unanswered as to why no one came to the aid the fallen victim and what caused such a violent attack to begin with. A friend of Pham told the Los Angeles Times that the attackers had gotten into an argument with Pham after she accidentally walked into a photo they were posing for.
One of the attackers’ cellphones was recovered from the scene, the friend told the newspaper. Below is a low resolution video that was submitted by a witness on the scene shows a security guard that worked for the nightclub running in to break the situation up. Currently there is 1 female arrested while 4 still remain on the loose.
Pham was a recent graduate from Chapman University looking to develop and grow her career as a writer/journalist. Her friends describe loving, caring, kind, generous, and beautiful inside and out. She was also a writer, with an essay – titled “Men Don’t Talk About Their Feelings” – published in a 2011 anthology, “Pho for Life: A Melting Pot of Thoughts.” You can view a brief interview below hosted by Adrian Zaw at an event debuting the book.
“When you start to really recognize everybody around you and that the world is bigger than you, you start to see that there’s a lot of room for love in your life,” she said. “Just letting your walls down helps you see that.”
