We’re all familiar with the names Yao Ming, Jeremy Lin, and Yi Jianlian. Now it’s time we introduce you to Tsung-Hsien Chang, aka Jet Chang, the 6-4 shooting guard from BYU-Hawaii. Nicknamed Jet due to his quick moves and high flying acrobatics, Chang has created quite a buzz for himself after a stellar year in which he took BYU-Hawaii to the NCAA Division II National Championship game last year, only to fall one game short of the title. Regardless of the outcome, Chang is now on the radar and has the potential to be the next Asian NBA player in this year’s 2012 draft.
Born in Taiwan, Chang has accomplished quite a lot in his young career. He graduated from Sing Rong High School in Taina, Taiwan in 2007  where he averaged 27 points per game . In 2006, he won the National Championships in Taiwan and was also the National Dunk Champion in 2006 and 2007. While playing for BYU-Hawaii, Chang received the PacWest Honor Roll on 11/28; PacWest Pre-Season Player of the Year; Sporting News Pre-Season All-American; Basketball Times Pre-Season All-American; DII Bulletin Pre-Season NCAA II Player of the Year and All-American.
Throughout this current 2011-2012 season, Chang is leading the team in scoring averaging 16.6 ppg as BYU-Hawaii holds a 7-6 record. His explosiveness and ability to score is very impressive. After watching his highlights, we can see that he has a knack for scoring and is not afraid of taking it to the competition. Even though Asian basketball players are heavily underrepresented  in the NBA, the future looks bright for this Taiwanese kid. With Yao Ming’s retirement, there aren’t many Asian players left. We hope Jet Chang gets a shot at the NBA in this year’s draft and maybe one day, we can see a team with him, Yi Jianlian and Jeremy Lin playing together. Hey, one can dream.
