13 Reasons Why, a Netflix series executive produced by Selena Gomez, will return with a second season on Netflix in 2018. The series– deemed “controversial” for its themes of suicide, rape, and mental health struggles– has been the most tweeted about show of 2017, as well as the Most Watched Show on Netflix.
The show has done well with casting a variety of roles. In fact, two leads are Asian-American. Leads, Ross Butler who plays Zach Dempsey, and Michele Selene Ang who plays Courtney Crimsen on the show, have lead the way on how Asian-American acting talent are portrayed in mainstream media by playing non-stereotypical roles (Ross Butler as a hot jock, and Michele Ang as a Lesbian coping with her sexual orientation).
The cast for Season 2 has not been confirmed yet, but with Ross’ departure from CW’s Riverdale, it’s highly likely he will return to 13 Reasons Why. We’re not sure about Michele’s character, but we hope she returns as well.
